The symposium invited a total of twelve journalists as panelists, eight from the foreign media repressing, Indonesia, China, the Republic of Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Qatar, and four Japanese Media. They examined Japanese and foreign reporting on the disaster from their own perspectives and discuss the role of the media in the reconstruction process from the Great East Japan Earthquake. The chair of the symposium, Mr. Hiroshi Fuse, Senior Editorial Writer, The Mainichi Newspapers, closed the symposium saying, “Japan has been burdened with many problems after the earthquake. However, it is particularly at times like this that the role of the media comes into question. I believe that the role of the media is not only to deliver accurate information, but also to lead discussions so that we can move forward in the right direction.” H.E.
