United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHER) Japan Office hosted a symposium “Afghan Refugee Issue and Strategic Solution” at the United Nations University in Tokyo. At the symposium, the current situation, shelters, spontaneous repatriation?of refugees and efforts to reunite the country were discussed. Speakers including Mr. Ryuji Yamane, Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, H.E. Jamaher Anwari, Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, Afghanistan, Mr. Alexander Aleinikoff, Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees, UNHCR, Mrs. Sadako Ogata, former UN High Commissioner for Refugees and former President of JICA, Mr. Ichiro Aisawa, Secretary-General of the Parliamentary League for UNHCR, Mr. Michael Keating, DSRSG, UNAMA, discussed that sharing the strategic solution for Afghan Refugees at the Geneva international conference will make humanitarian aid more effective by allowing the development and easing issues surrounding issue of refugee at the same time. H.E. Dr. Khalil Hassan, Ambassador of the kingdom of Bahrain Embassy to Japan had attended.
