Dr. Khalil Hassan, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Japan attended the 2012 Kyoto Prize Presentation Ceremony and Banquet, which was held in honor of Mr. Hiroo Imura, Chairman and Mr. Kazuo Inamori, President of the Inamori Foundation. The Presentation Ceremony of the Kyoto Prize is an annual international award presented in three categories to honor those who have contributed significantly to the scientific, cultural and spiritual betterment of mankind. For this year, Dr. Ivan Edward Sutherland from United States (Advanced Technology from the field of Information Science), Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi from Japan (Basic Sciences from the field of Life Sciences) and Professor Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak from India (Thought and Ethics) were awarded from the field of at the Kyoto International Conference Center. Each laureate received Diploma, Kyoto Prize medal and prize money from Hiroo Imura, Chairman of the Inamori Foundation in the presence of Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado and 1,700 audiences from political, business and the academic worlds. Following this, congratulatory messages from Yoshihiko Noda, Prime Minister of Japan, Pranab Kumar Mukherjee, President of the Republic of India, and Barack H. Obama, President of the United States of America were introduced. Also, as a performance, Kyoto Seibo Gakuin Elementary School Children’s Choir presented chorus in praise of glory of laureates.
