November 3, 2010 Open Symposium on the Conflict and Peacebuilding in the Middle East Held

Open Symposium titled “Conflict and Peacebuilding in the Middle East: Palestine, Israel and Iraq” was held at the Kasumigaseki Bldg., organized by the Japan Institute of International Affairs.

The speakers were H.E. Ambassador Mr. Yoshiji Nogami, President, The Japan Institute of International Affairs, Honorable Brigadier General (retired) Mr. Shlomo Brom, Senior Research Fellow, The Institute for National Security Studies, Dr. Omar Dajani, Professor, MacGeorge School of Law University of the Pacific, Dr. Faleh Abduljabar, President, Iraq Institute for Strategic Studies, Dr. Reidar Visser, Research Fellow The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs, Dr. Hasan AlMomani, Director, Regional Center on Conflict Prevention, Jordan Institute of Diplomacy, Dr. Emad Gad Badras Badrous, Head of Israeli Study Program, Al Ahram Center for Political & Strategic Studies, and others.

From the Embassy, Dr. Khalil Hassan, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Japan attended the symposium to learn more about the past and present aspects of the issues surrounding Palestine-Israel and Iraq and the reactions of neighboring countries to these issues, to deepen mutual understanding on the conflicts in the Middle East and to examine the prospects for resolution.
