July 5, 2007 Finance Minister Received Japanese Senior Vice Minister of Finance

MANAMA– Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa received here on Thursday Japanese Senior Vice Minister of Finance Kazunori Tanaka and his accompanying delegation.

They discussed the strong relations bonding Bahrain and Japan and means of developing mainly in financial, economic and investment fields. They both asserted the importance of the free trade zone being discussed by the GCC and Japan as the first round of negotiations took place in Tokyo in September 2006 and the second in Riyadh last January. The Japanese official extended congratulations of the Japanese government of UN Habitat Scroll of Honour Award bestowed on Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khakifa, saying that the achievement was another step forward towards advancement under the wise rule of HM King Hamed Bin Isa Al Khalifa. During the meeting which was also attended by Bahraini senior officials and members of the Japanese delegation, Kazunori also hailed Bahrain’s comprehensive development and its excellent position as a financial and Banking Hub in the region.
